new table

Working this morning on our new table. I thought I would also share a full shot of the table, which you've already seen many glimpses of, since it's my favorite new surface to photograph on. After a bit of hunting around for a big wooden table at flea markets and second hand shops, and not finding anything in our price range, I decided it was something we could make ourselves. I was inspired by Ashley's table as seen on Design Sponge, here, and by this table from Freunden von Freunden. We bought the planks for the table top at Building Resources, and after a lot of sanding they were ready for use. Chris put the finishing touches on the table just last weekend, and I have to say, it is so satisfying to have the exact table I wanted for such a good price and to know that we put it together ourselves (although of course, most of the muscle was provided by Chris). Now we just need chairs!
