The inspiration wall for spring has been growing. Another recent inspiration is this image from the Mysteries of Harris Burdick. I hope to have some fabric swatches to give you a peek of soon. Working on the textile designs is quickly becoming my favorite part of the design process.
And, not to change gears too abruptly, I've been struggling with figuring out how to grow my clothing business, and, to be honest, I'm not sure how much to expect to happen in this first year. I don't always feel that I've done very well, but maybe a year is too soon for big things to happen? Sometimes I have to remind myself it hasn't even been a full year since I launched the line, and of course there's a lot of room for improvement, so there's that aspect of it. But every other day I seem to come across some story of businesses that seem to have experienced overnight success. I know this may not be entirely accurate, and I'm not sure whether that would be a sustainable model...but it can still be demoralizing to read about on days when I'm not feeling particularly successful.
I was debating whether to write this here because I don't want to come off as being negative, and I won't say too much more, other than that some days are a struggle, and some days I feel proud, happy, and inspired to continue doing this and to improve my work.

Shara, this sounds really difficult. I've experienced similar feelings myself, and can only encourage you to stay at it (within reason / that's the goal & limit I set for myself), listen to feedback from those you trust & admire, and produce what you believe to be your best work. Definitely looking forward to seeing next season's prints.. maybe back for sale at metrode, as I grow too? I hope so.
Thanks for your thoughtful comment, Caitlin, and for your words of encouragement. I do think there is a lot to be said for persistence and hard work, within reason as you say. Thank you for the advice and feedback, they are much appreciated :)
